Christian Goeschel

Christian Goeschel is Reader in Modern European History at the University of Manchester. He is an expert of modern Germany and Italy. His books include Suicide in Naxi Germany (OUP, 2009) which received critical acclaim in Britain, the USA and Germany. His most recent book Mussolini and Hitler: The Forging of the Fascist Alliance was published by Yale University Press in August 2018 and has been widely translated, again to critical international acclaim, into several major European and non-European languages.

Christian is currently writing a book on the sensory history of Germany in 1932/33.

He enjoys making his work accessible via TV programmes and has contributed to major TV documentaries for channels including BBC Two, Rai Tre, and ZDF.

He lives in Manchester and tries to spend as much time as possible in Osaka, Japan.
