Gabrielle Storey

Dr Gabrielle Storey is a historian of monarchy, gender, and sexuality. She undertook both her undergraduate degree and PhD at the University of Winchester, where she specialised in the personal lives and political careers of the Angevin queens of England. She also holds a Masters degree in History from University College London. Her first book, a biography of Berengaria of Navarre, queen of England, was published with Routledge in 2024. Gabrielle has also written articles, chapters, and edited collections on medieval monarchy, sexuality, and the representations of these in TV and literature, the latest of which, Premodern Ruling Sexualities. Representation, identity, and power (with Zita Eva Rohr), was published with Manchester University Press in 2024.

She has published more widely for BBC History Magazine and Medieval World: Culture and Conflict, and has appeared on international documentaries and radio for the BBC, Channel 4, and History Hit. Gabrielle is passionate about her research topics of monarchy, gender, and sexuality, but is also more broadly interested in the histories of marginalised communities. She has spoken at events for the Historical Association, Heritage Open Days, and Chalke History Festival.
