Sushma Jansari
Dr Sushma Jansari is Curator of South Asia at the British Museum, a Trustee of the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, and founder and presenter of The Wonder House podcast. Currently she is preparing a major exhibition and co-authoring an associated book on the origins of Hindu, Jain and Buddhist devotional art in the nature spirits of South Asia (opening May 2025). Sushma has an active and growing TikTok account where she shares South Asian Art and life as a curator.
Sushma was Lead Curator of the award-winning Manchester Museum South Asia Gallery in partnership with the British Museum (opened 2023) and curator of ancient to mediaeval South Asia in the British Museum’s Sir Joseph Hotung Gallery for China and South Asia (opened 2017). Her first book with UCL Press (2023), Chandragupta Maurya: the creation of a national hero in India was published Open Access and has had almost 8,000 downloads to date.
