Baldwin: A Love Story by Nicholas Boggs shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction 2026

We are delighted to announce that Baldwin: A Love Story by Nicholas Boggs has been shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction 2026!

The judges said: "An extraordinary biography of a great figure of the 20th century. Boggs hones in on a particular aspect of Baldwin's life, rather than retelling every familiar story. He focuses on the relationships and characters in his life that mattered most, helping to explain who Baldwin was."

Baldwin: A Love Story was published by Bloomsbury on 12th March 2026 and was the winner of the NBCC John Leonard Prize and the PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for Biography!

You can read more about the shortlist here. The winner will be announced at a prize ceremony on 4th November.
