The Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction is widely recognised as the world's most prestigious international award for literary non-fiction that is open to books on any subject and to writers of any nationality.

Drawing on new archival material, original research, and interviews, this spellbinding book is the first major biography of James Baldwin in three decades, revealing how profoundly his personal relationships shaped his life and work.

Baldwin: A Love Story was published by Bloomsbury on 12 March 2026 and was the winner of the NBCC John Leonard Prize and the PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for Biography!
