Keshava Guha's new novel The Tiger's Share acquired by John Murray Press
We are pleased to announce that Keshava Guha's new novel The Tiger's Share has been acquired by John Murray Press.
Publishing director Nicholas Pearson acquired world rights from Director Rachel Conway.
"Having dedicated her life to achieving professional success in Delhi, Tara is everything her brother isn’t: steadfast, independent, thriving," the synopsis says. "But when their beloved father retires, he reveals himself to be far from the quiet, conventional accountant they thought they knew – and the family is thrown into disarray. Meanwhile, Tara’s friend, Lila, has it all: the great job, the lovely home, the beautiful family. But when her father dies, Lila’s brother wastes no time in claiming what’s his."
"In a country where old elites and norms are under threat, the pursuit of private aspiration plays out against a dystopian daily background of ecological collapse and political unrest. Unlike anything else in contemporary Indian fiction, The Tiger’s Share is a stunning state-of-the-nation novel that is also intensely personal."
The book will be published in spring 2025.
