Viking Penguin acquires U.S. rights to Beth Brower's The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion

We are thrilled to announce that the U.S. rights for Beth Brower's The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion have been acquired by Viking Penguin!

In her newsletter, Beth said, “I knew I would never sign with anyone who did not take my Lines In The Sand very seriously. My number one priority is to protect my characters and books; my number two priority is to take care of my readers. Penguin fully understood this. They listened to every concern, and in the back and forth that followed they showed by their actions (not only their words) that they were willing to be partners in this endeavor, to take the weight of printing and distributing off my shoulders, while leaving my writing process untouched, preserving the soul and spirit of Emma M. Lion.”

In the series, Emma M. Lion offers up her Unselected Journals, however self-incriminating they may be. Armed with wit and a sideways amusement, Emma documents the curious realities of her life at Lapis Lazuli House.

Volumes 1-8 will be available in paperback from Penguin Books on November 24, 2026, with Volume 9 slated for publication on February 23, 2027.
