Alexander Lee's The First Ghetto longlisted for the Cundill History Prize 2026
We are very pleased to announce that Alexander Lee's The First Ghetto: Venice and the Jews has been longlisted for the 2026 Cundill History Prize!
Administered by McGill University in Montreal, the Cundill History Prize recognizes and rewards the best history writing in English.
The First Ghetto tells the story of the world's first Jewish ghetto, from the first Jewish arrivals in the early fourteenth century to the present day. It was published by Picador on 5 March 2026.
