Ben Okri receives Knighthood in King's Birthday Honours List 2023

We are pleased to announce that Ben Okri, author of the Booker Prize Winning novel The Famished Road (Doubleday, 1992), the recent novel The Last Gift of the Master Artists, (Head of Zeus, 2022), and the forthcoming collection of stories, essays, and poems about climate change, Tiger Work (Head of Zeus, 2023), has received a Knighthood on the King's Birthday Honours List 2023 for his services to literature.

As reported in the Bookseller, he said said that for him, the main value of the honour came in the "necessity to remind my fellow human beings that we are living on a cusp of a worldwide environmental crisis". Ben's new collection, Tiger Work, which tackles this very subject will be published on 6 July 2023.

Fellow authors, including Ian McEwan and the late Martin Amis, as well as publishers Anthony Cheetham and Stuart Profit, join Ben on the honours list.
