Philip Hoare longlisted for the 2022 PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for Biography
We are very pleased to announce that ALBERT AND THE WHALE: Albrecht Dürer and How Art Imagines Our World by Philip Hoare has been longlisted for the PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for Biography 2022.
The award is for excellence in the art of biography with the winning title considered by the judges to be a work of exceptional literary, narrative, and artistic merit, based on scrupulous research.
This year’s judges — Luke Dittrich, Paul Golob, and Imani Perry — commented how Hoare's book 'truly resonated with them'.
Finalists for the award will be announced in early 2022 and the winner will be honored at the 2022 PEN America Literary Awards Ceremony.
