Philip Hoare shortlisted for the Rathbones Folio Prize 2022

We are very pleased to announce that ALBERT AND THE WHALE by Philip Hoare has been shortlisted for the Rathbones Folio Prize 2022.

The Rathbones Folio Prize is known as the 'writers’ prize' and rewards £30,000 to the best work of literature of the year, regardless of form.

Chair of Judges, Tessa Hadley, stated, "We’re so excited by our shortlist for the Rathbones Folio Prize this year... There were just a few books that had seized us from the first page and hadn’t let us down until the last, and then seemed even richer and larger on a second reading." The other two judges this year are Rachel Long and William Atkins.

The winner will be announced in a ceremony at the British Library on Wednesday 23rd March. The shortlisted authors will also take part in an event series with 5x15.
